The Mag performs accuracy, when Styrud completeda rock drilling for a new drainage water line for Trollhättans Energi lastweek. The mission was to hit a tunnel at 30 m depth, total bore length was 78m.
Thanks to the range and the workabledrill-to-function, the bore was made quickly, smooth and safely.
- The very hilly and steep area made it very hard and difficult to locate the transmitter in walk-over-mode, but thanks to the drill-to-function you see the exact direction and we managed to stay inexact line during the whole bore and then it was just to stop at every point of reference and read the depth, says David Brodén at Styrud.
On the picture the customer has made a wish forbull's-eye and also a guessing contest of where to exit in the tunnel wall.(The drill bit has a dimension of ø 165 mm, and the exit was made about 25 cmto the right and 3 cm above bull's-eye, but the most important thing herereally wasn’t the location in plan but in profile because to enter the tunnelin the right angle.
It is so satisfying to see the Mags performingout in the fields and that our customers are pleased with the performance!
Details about the bore:
Locating system: Underground Magnetics Mag 8with an Echo 50 transmitter in low-power-mode.
Bore length: 78 m in solid rock, straight inplan and profile and with a pitch of -25.3%
Performance time: Two working days.
Target: To hit a rock tunnel with ø 2,5 m at 30m depth.
Thank you David Brodén at Styrud for thepictures and the enthusiastic comments!
